Urban Forest - Greening Melbourne

Project Summary

The Urban Forest Greening Melbourne Poster was designed for a Design Competition held by the City of Melbourne in 2010.

The brief called for artist interpretations of an ‘Urban Forest’.

The following poster and statement is my interpretation:

Melbourne’s Future Urban Forest will permit the city to become a living and breathing ecological system. One which; purifies wastewater, feeds it’s population, reuses all of its waste, and provides an abundance of energy and renewable materials for human and natural purposes, whilst maintaining ongoing employment for current and future populations.

Final Words

The Urban Forest Greening Melbourne Poster can be used for promotional material providing that credit is given and a link is provided to this page. Please also notify me if you plan on using the artwork so I can add it to the list of publications.

The artwork is a popular piece to portray the growing trend in greening urban areas. To date the Greening Melbourne Artwork has been used in the following online and physical publications:

Science Works ‘Think Ahead’ Exhibition, Melbourne 2013
Green Grow the Cities – Australian Geographic (May-June 2014 edition)
City of Melbourne Urban Forest Strategy 2014
The Age – Extreme Gardening on the 92nd floor of the Eureka Tower
The Age – Greener cities the key to happier, healthier, stress-free lives
The Age – New maps show Melbourne’s unused rooftops are ripe for greening
